The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me

June 29, 2024, two shows only.

Gaslight Theater invites everyone to celebrate Pride Month with them as they present David Drake’s “The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me”. This smash-hit one-man show tells the story of Drake’s call to gay pride and activism through a series of vignettes exploring thoughts and emotions shared by a whole generation. Drake abstractly documents a gay man’s journey of self discovery, while also addressing the AIDS crisis that plagued the community in the 1980’s.

Directed by Lucille Rioux and starring David Moisan.

Gaslight Theater’s production of “The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me” is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Play Publishing Inc, NYC. Visit them at www.broadwayplaypublishing.com.

Nunsense is a hilarious spoof about the misadventures of five nuns trying to manage a fundraiser. Sadly, the rest of the sisterhood died from botulism after eating vichyssoise prepared by Sister Julia Child of God. Thus, the remaining nuns – ballet-loving Sister Leo (the novice, who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina), street-wise Sister Robert Anne (tough character from Brooklyn, and a constant source of aggravation for the Mother Superior), befuddled Sister Mary Amnesia (the very sweet nun who lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head), the Mother Superior, Sister Mary Regina (a feisty Sophie Tucker-type who can’t resist the spotlight), and mistress of the novices Sister Mary Hubert (the second in command who is always competing with the Mother Superior) – stage a talent show in order to raise the money to bury their dearly departed.

The action takes place in the auditorium on the second floor of Hallowell City Hall, 1 Winthrop St, Hallowell and the site is handicapped accessible. Performances are one week only Thursday and Friday evenings, June 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9 matinees at 2:00 p.m. The ticket price is $20.

    Jellofish

Gaslight Theater is bringing together theater, art, and food in a special fundraising
    production.

Peter Shaffer’s “Jellofish,” directed by Birdie Katz will be for two performances only, Saturday, September 30 at 7:00p.m. and Sunday October 1 at 2:00 p.m.

Four World War II veterans have been playing a monthly game of poker for over 50 years, putting aside five percent of every pot until they have accumulated a sizable fortune. As they compete in this month’s game, they struggle over what to do with their nest egg. As the debate escalates, their conflicting views on love, friendship, politics, and death are revealed. As each player comes upon a “random” history chip, the events of their lives are represented. The history chips were created whenever a significant event occurred in one of their lives. As some of the history chips turn up, the deeper implications of a lifetime of friendship and competition are explored.

The cast includes Walter Guild, Bill Haley, and Frank Omar.

Wine and cheese and crackers will be provided after each performance as part of the admission price for those holding an adult ticket.
